Short Single Fin (Australian Made - Hand Shaped Off the Blank)
This single fin takes what Tom Wegener has learned from years of shaping finless alaia boards (the fastest boards of all) and mixed it with the beauty and control of a Single Fin. There is a low edged rail (aggressive rail) in the front half of the board for power turning with your front foot off the bottom. The tail has a rounder (non aggressive) rail that flows with the fin through top turns and cut backs off the back foot. This is a very new surfboard design that works really well in small to mid-sized surf.
“It’s really funny as I have been trying to do a stylish 70’s cut back for years. Tom and I worked on the idea of a single fin that would ride waist to head high waves giving speed and manoeuvrability. The first day I saw the board I though it was way too thick and wide but Tom insisted I try it out. I surfed a crowded shoulder high Beach break. Because of the added thickness I could take off 5 to 10 meters deeper than other surfers and the effortless speed of the board was unbelievable, no one was game to drop in!
